Royal Wedding Sleepover

Lynda had a girly sleepover last night at Sonia's house to watch the Royal Wedding. Alison and Jean were also there for the night. Us boys had a relatively wedding free night, although my twitter stream was rather full of it.

Today Dan had his first work placement day at the RSPCA center in Burwood. He watched surgery on a cat hit by a car.

Ellison was invited to his first AFL game, he is watching Essendon at the Etihad stadium tomorrow. Must remember to dress him in red and black.

Easter Picnic

Had a lovely family picnic today at Bicentennial Park Chelsea. Lynda and I took Ellison and Matthew to meet Jean, Geoff & Ebby, Sonia & Michael, Allison, John & Simon, Lawrence, Kristy & Hudson and Peter and Natalie.

Everyone brought some food, so we decided to make Jamie's Kimchee Slaw. Unfortunately it was a bit too potent for both of us with its two chillies, ginger, onions, radishes and bunch of  coriander. Somebody must have eaten it though as quite a lot of it went.

The kids spent the afternoon in the playpark, the skatepark or hunting easter eggs.

Tomorrow is Easter Tuesday, so 1 more day off of work for me and the kids, then wednesday is back to normal.

Lynda's Birthday

Today was Lynda's birthday so we packed the boys off to the cinema and had a lovely meal together in "The Grand Hotel" Mornington. We both had the roast lamb special and very nice it was too. Afterwards I persuaded Lynda to have $10 each in the "pokies". We didn't have a clue how to play the machine but were quite happy when 133 dollar coins dropped out!

For her pressies, she got some chocolates from the boys, a set of Michael Palin books and a Red Balloon "Drive a V8 SuperCar" experience. Needless to say she was quite excited as she is a bit of a potential speed freak.

Got to go, Pizza for tea.

Today's update.

Sad news that Elizabeth Sladon died today aged only 63
At "Chez Baumann" it was a quiet day today. No kids over so the boys had to entertain themselves.
First thing this morning I drove into Frankston to stock up on staples. My favorite shop is Aldi at the moment as they are so much cheaper than Coles and Safety. I then ran into KMart to get the kids some Easter eggs for Sunday. I got Cadbury eggs, but the chocolate taste is not as nice as the UK version.
Tomorrow is Lynda's birthday. She is not too happy at the thought of being 39.

Two Four Two

Boys had their friends over again today. Ellison had Frank over and Matthew played with James again.
We had Nerf gun wars. Lots of fun for all. Dan has escaped to his friend's house for some serious X-Box action. Lynda had a skate on Matthew's scooter earlier and managed to fall off and clobber her ankle. Its beginning to swell up so we'll keep our eye on that tomorrow.

Back again.

What's the chance that I can get into the habit of writing something? Well I've downloaded the Blogger app for my phone, so here goes...

The boys are on Easter holidays at the moment. Dan is doing an animal studies course with the RSPCA which he is enjoying a lot (well the practical bits anyway). Matthew has a new friend who has moved into a house just up the road. Ellison has plenty of friends and keeps getting invited to sleepovers. Boys are all sorted then.

I managed to resist the temptation of the stray dogs in the RSPCA adoption centre every time I dropped Dan off, but he still has to do some weekend work placements, so there's still a chance I might come home with a new pet soon...

Installed in the new house

Well we all moved into our own house a few days ago and we are just finding our way around. Its quite an old house, so it has many "quirks". These are mostly windows and doors that no longer fit the frames they are wedged in, or holes in the floor where wires or services once ran, but have now been moved. The house is on concrete stumps so any wind whips up from underneath and blows through the holes. Suffice it to say that the house is a little drafty. This probably wont be a problem in the summer, but right now the house is quite difficult to keep warm. Lucky with the rugs we purchased in Ikea and the ones that Jean had in her garage we have managed to cover much of the colder bits of wood floor.

All the services have now been installed in the house; gas, water, electricity, internet and satalite TV. Lynda is happy because UKTV and The Lifestyle Channel show all the programmes she loves; "Location, Location, Location", "Escape to the Country", "Escape to River Cottage" etc. I'm happy because my internet access is 5 times faster than it was in the UK.

We have sorted out a school for Ellison and Matthew. On Monday, they start at Derinya primary school. They will be there for 2 weeks and then break up for a 2 week spring holiday! I spent $550 on uniform including the 4 bags they need each! When I told Jean where they were going, she put her head in her hands and said the charity shop where she works had just thrown out loads of Derinya uniform. She immediately headed back to the shop, to rummage through 20 bales of clothes, and 2 hours later presented Lynda with enough spare uniform to keep Matthew in clean trousers for at least 2 weeks.

Next mission is to find somewhere that will suit to Dan.
