Installed in the new house

Well we all moved into our own house a few days ago and we are just finding our way around. Its quite an old house, so it has many "quirks". These are mostly windows and doors that no longer fit the frames they are wedged in, or holes in the floor where wires or services once ran, but have now been moved. The house is on concrete stumps so any wind whips up from underneath and blows through the holes. Suffice it to say that the house is a little drafty. This probably wont be a problem in the summer, but right now the house is quite difficult to keep warm. Lucky with the rugs we purchased in Ikea and the ones that Jean had in her garage we have managed to cover much of the colder bits of wood floor.

All the services have now been installed in the house; gas, water, electricity, internet and satalite TV. Lynda is happy because UKTV and The Lifestyle Channel show all the programmes she loves; "Location, Location, Location", "Escape to the Country", "Escape to River Cottage" etc. I'm happy because my internet access is 5 times faster than it was in the UK.

We have sorted out a school for Ellison and Matthew. On Monday, they start at Derinya primary school. They will be there for 2 weeks and then break up for a 2 week spring holiday! I spent $550 on uniform including the 4 bags they need each! When I told Jean where they were going, she put her head in her hands and said the charity shop where she works had just thrown out loads of Derinya uniform. She immediately headed back to the shop, to rummage through 20 bales of clothes, and 2 hours later presented Lynda with enough spare uniform to keep Matthew in clean trousers for at least 2 weeks.

Next mission is to find somewhere that will suit to Dan.
